The form designer (like in kbasic)

Are there new versions?

The form designer (like in kbasic)

Just to keep you informed.
The form designer like in kbasic is still under development. Things look good so far.
But it will take some time to finally have it in the IDE... hope to have it in within the next weeks.

It will be part of the V2 version (which should also include the VM-byte code compilation mode + full debugger support).

About the current version:
I won't add new features to the V1 version as it is really usable and great taks can be done with Qt Designer and the language core.

Can't wait... your hard work is really appreciated.

Please, please keep the new forms designer as close as possible in layout and options to the old VB6 IDE, the language may have been derided by some but the VB6 IDE was a delightful IDE to use. Clean, clear and white unlike Microsoft's later VB.NET version which was blue-ish, cluttered and 'busy'.

One thing that is sorely needed is tight integration between the forms designer and the code so that clicking on a control creates a block of code just as per the VB6 IDE. Having to create the code block manually and then link the form manually in the designer is a chore...

Good luck and when do you think the IDE will be ready?

Yes, it it will be select control -> double click -> goes to source code and create the needed code. Even all signals are listed and can be created this way.
Hope to have it in the next weeks.

Very good indeed. I used to be so productive in VB6. If I could replicate that experience again I would be rather thrilled. I want to make progress writing apps. not learning new IDEs. I have so many IDEs now and the VB6 IDE was to me the one I could really fly in. Jabaco had a very simple VB6-like IDE but the project appears dead. I could not get to grips with Real Studio's IDE and Freebasic appears stalled with the two 3rd party IDEs not really tightly integrated to the code. The kbasic IDE was pretty close in some respects.

Just to keep you informed.

Basically, the form designer is ready, but to work together with existing build system it needs to store its forms as ui files (as Qt designer uses). And this feature is still under development. So pllease be more patient.

Hi yereverluvinuncleber,

I know from a reliable source that B is spending a lot of his time on the designer.
Can't give you an update because i don't know the current status.
Kind regards,
Slowdown

Sorry
I have difficulties to save the form designer format into a ui format used by the compiler (basically it works, but there are errors).
